Chapter 4 - Arrival at Jabba's Palace - Shot 4

INT JABBA'S PALACE - HALLWAY
1. Rogua - a Gamorrean Guard with a Long Bladed Axe

This is where the fun begins. According to the Gamorrean page on Wookieepedia:
"Twelve Gamorreans were brought to Tatooine by Han Solo and Chewbacca at the request of Jabba. In order to seal the contract the crimelord agreed to fight them all at once but only if they were blindfolded. They agreed and when they were unable to see Jabba, the Hutt ordered a group of his thugs to beat them. The nine that survived dutifully pledged themselves to the Hutt that they thought gave them a good thrashing." taken from The Essential Guide to Characters

7 of these 9 have been given official images and named as:
Gartogg: One of the Gamorreans who patrolled the hallway. unknown weapon
Ghana Gleemort: Carries the Short Blade style Vibro-ax. CCG card
Jubnuk: Fell into the Rancor pit. unknown weapon.
Ortugg: Captain, Force Choked by Luke. Met R2 & C-3PO in the hallway. Carries the Short Blade style Vibro-ax. CCG card
Rogua: Along with Ortugg, escorted Chewbacca to prison cell. Carries the Long Blade style Vibro-ax
Thok: Interior Guard, Carries a long metallic Vibro-Lance. CCG card served alongside Thug
Thug: Interior Guard. Carries the Long Blade style Vibro-ax. CCG card served alongside Thok

The other two guards not on screen are:
Grissom: From 'Star Wars Tales #3: Three Against the Galaxy
Warlug: From 'Tales of Jabba's Palace'

To help better identify them, below are the weapons that they are seen with.

From Left to Right:
An unknown Gamorrean carries a Short bladed Vibro-Ax,
Thok carries a Vibro Lance,
Thug carries a Long bladed Vibro-Ax.
These names are from the CCG card. The other Gamorrean could be Jubnuk as the image above has similar mangled fingers to this photo of Jubnuk.

The Unknown Weapon.

There is another weapon used onscreen by a gamorrean. This is not a Vibro Lance or a Force Pike (like the one that Kithaba carries) but more of a rifle of some sort. I have circled what looks to be a grip on the underside of the barrel. Any help on identifying this weapon would be great.

For the arrival of the droids in this scene we can deduct that as Rogua and Ortugg are often paired together and it says above that Ortugg met R2-D2 & C-3PO, its fair to assume that Rogua is the other guard that meets the droids. The named images show that Rogua has a Long bladed Vibro-Axe and Ortugg has a short bladed Vibro-Axe so the first Gamorrean on screen is Rogua followed shortly (in the next blog post) by Ortugg.

Phew!

Thanks to Sompeetalay's Source Blog for much of this info who also lists Orrtug as the 9th Gamorrean who was "Nearly killed by the Rancor when the crashed ship was discovered". I'm unsure of the source on this but I think its the same Gamorrean as Ortugg.
